1) Who is your favourite superhero? Why?
My favorite is Batman, because he’s not really that super. He’s just a regular guy (granted with a functionally unlimited budget) with a passion to stop crime and suffering.
2) What is your biggest fear?
says my fortune cookie.
I feel like I’ve always had a weird definition of “home” — one which different things and different places fit over time. Most people think that home is where they grew up, or where their family is, or just where they go back to at the end of the day. Where I live, where my parents are, or where I spent my childhood, to me, have no bearing on what I consider home. Home, to me, has always been where I felt like I belonged. For a while, “home” was Tokyo. Now, home is becoming people and ideas instead of places.
I can’t pinpoint a location where I feel “home” is right now. It’s more of a mesh of people and things. Lily is home, and Cam is home, and Gabe and Katie and our impromptu International Club is home. My stuffed panda from the National Zoo is home. And Tumblr is home and Twitter is home and Kpop and ELF and VIP are home. Sometimes, when I’m curled up in bed and it’s a bit too cold for comfort, Infinite’s “Julia” or the GazettE’s “Hana Kotoba” is home. Sometimes, under the same circumstances, it’s New York City. Sometimes, home is Tokyo again. Sometimes, it’s Seoul. And sometimes Paris. Or Saint Malo, or any other nondescript village by the sea, where the weather is always damp and windy.
Home, really, is just too abstract to be a place or a set of people who may or may not be blood. Home, really, is where or who or what you long for, regardless of why, or how.

1) Who is your favourite superhero? Why?
My favorite is Batman, because he’s not really that super. He’s just a regular guy (granted with a functionally unlimited budget) with a passion to stop crime and suffering.
2) What is your biggest fear?
Can I say spiders? Because spiders.
3) If you could only eat one food ever again, what would you choose?
Uhhh, omg that’s difficult. Considering I have actually not eaten a very wide variety of food, I’d say that I’d like to explore a bit more before choosing.
4) If you had a TARDIS, where and when would you go first?
Edo-period Kyoto, which was the capital at that time if I remember correctly.
5) Cats or hedgehogs?
Both. You can’t make me choose.
6) Who is your favourite painter?
I don’t actually have a favorite; I just like art.
7) In a an apocalyptic situation, how much do you honestly think you’d lose your current morals?
Well, survival of the fittest, but I probably wouldn’t steal or kill unless it was absolutely necessary.
8) What is your biggest hope for your future?
Probably sounds dumb, but honestly just to be happy. I don’t pretend to know what I want from moment to moment; I’m pretty changeable. That considered, I’m not going to make any solid claims.
9) What is a band/singer you are a little embarrassed to admit you like?
None? I’m not embarrassed about my preferences as a general rule.
10) What’s your favourite season?
Autumn. An overcast, rainy, warmish autumn day is my perfect day.
11) If you could live in one fictional world, what would it be?
Probably Patrick Rothfuss’s Four Corners of Civilization from his Kingkiller Chronicles. Pat has an amazing way of storytelling that includes a very deep, rich history. It’s the most realistic fantasy world that I have ever read, and it sucks me up every time. (I mean I could see going to classes at the University and hanging around the Eolian in Imre and listening to everyone with their silver pipes — maybe even Kvothe singing along to his lute. I have way too many feelings about this universe.)

Last and most CERTAINLY not least are these cards from Lily. The panda one is the most recent, which arrived to me sometime after Christmas. The other two were sent to me at the same time, in early September, and were in fact the first bit of mail I received at college. I reread these before I stuck them up and I had to tweet Lily to tell her I love her because they’re fantastic and she’s fantastic. I can’t even words about how much these cards mean.
